The
Water Cycle

Inside Education began in 1985 when a group of
government, industry, education and non-profit
folks were drawn together by a common goal: to educate
people about the range of values associated with the relationship
between a healthy environment and a productive
economy. This "bias-balanced" approach
was the best way, they reasoned, to empower people to make more
informed, more responsible decisions about the
issues. And so they created Friends of
Environmental Education Society of Alberta (FEESA for short).
Our founders must have been on to
something, because over the past 20 years, tens
of thousands of teachers and students, members of community groups
and the general public have used our
programming. Our partnerships have grown in strength
and number, providing us with stable funding and in-kind support
and, more importantly, a balance of perspectives.
Today, a professional, knowledgeable full-time
staff of 12 works out of offices in both Calgary and Edmonton,
and we boast an Alberta Emerald Award recognizing our educational
leadership.
On January 1, 2004 we became Inside
Education; a name we think better reflects our
ability to bring individuals inside the issues related to the
environment and development. Even though our name has
changed, our commitment to quality,
bias-balanced education has remained as strong as ever.
Inside Education assisted the Every
Drop Counts initiative by providing technical
assistance in ensuring the required curriculum learning outcomes
were met. Special thanks goes to Steve McIsaac,
Executive Director and Jason Toner, Senior
Water Educator.

solutions.

Alberta Irrigation Projects Association
Representing Alberta's Irrigation Districts, the
Alberta Irrigation Projects Association
participates in education and outreach, policy development and
research activities. Alberta Irrigation provides
up-to-date information about the status and
benefits of irrigation and its associated water management
infrastructure to federal, provincial and local government officials,
departments and agencies, water management stakeholders, its own
members, the public and the media.
Alberta Irrigation works actively
with Irrigation Districts, area schools, professional
organizations and interest groups to provide up-to-date information
about water management in southern Alberta. Most importantly,
our association and its members provide
"hands-on" experience in water management
through field tours and presentations. In the fall of 2006 and
spring of 2007, Every Drop Counts, a new in-classroom
resource for teachers and students was
launched by the Alberta Irrigation Projects Association. This
FREE resource is curriculum focused to meet the learning outcomes
inthe Grade 8 Science Unit on Freshwater Systems. Our partners have
helped make this worthwhile project possible.
