Southern Alberta

Lake Newell

 

Lake Newel is the one of the largest man-made lakes in the country and is the site of Kinbrook Island provincial park and Kinbrook Marsh Interpretive center. A spectacular birding spot, the lake has several islands set aside as nesting areas.

Lake Newell is located just south of Brooks. Amenities include: camping, beaches, boating, swimming, fishing, water-skiing, and sailing.

Lake McGregor Reservoir

A popular spot for anglers McGregor is located 45 km's NE of Vulcan

Amenities include: boating, fishing, camping,mountain biking, windsurfing, water-skiing and birding.

Milk River Ridge Reservoir

 

Located 10 km's South of Raymond Milk River Ridge is a picturesque reservoir, surrounded by towering sand bluffs.

Amenities include: swimming, boating, fishing, camping, windsurfing, birding, and hunting.


St. Mary's Reservoir

Located 60 km's southwest of Lethbridge.

Amenities include: beaches, birding, camping, fishing, boating interpretive trails, golfing, swimming, sailing, water-skiing and sailing.

Travers Reservoir

Located 20 km's south of Vulcan, Travers Reservoir is home to Little Bow Provincial Park.

Amenities include: beaches, camping, birding, boating, fishing, swimming, sailing, water-skiing and windsurfing.

Cameron Lake

Located in Waterton Lakes National Park this sub-alpine lake is a popular place for canoeing (rentals available), hiking and spotting Grizzlies.

Bertha Lake

A popular hike from the Waterton town site Bertha Lake is located in the Waterton Lakes National Park. Hikers can enjoy interpretive signs along the route, and camping is possible at the lake.

Cypress Hills

Cypress Hills Interprovincial Park straddles the boarder between Saskatchewan and Alberta. The park offer a wide range of attractions including fishing, a beach, camping, golfing, sailing, a marina and an interpretive centre. The Saskatchewan side is home to the Fort Walsh National Historic Site.
